A landfill site in Oxfordshire, a paper collection plant in London and a paper mill in Kent.
This was a self started project I undertook to try and find out what really happens to my rubbish. I set out to trace the journey of a packet of Weetabix and see where it would end up. Nothing in life is simple and the same is true for recycling in London. Due to the constant changing of waste subcontractors even within one borough it was impossible for me to follow my cereal box. Before I had arranged to visit the facility I believed was the next step on it's journey the council had stopped using that waste service and couldn't help me find out where my box was. I did try and follow all the possible routes it could have taken, which included a landfill site, a paper collection and sorting facility and a paper mill where paper and card were recycled.
